fishing pole holders

Post by TAW »

Had a couple friends wanting some rod holders for fish crazy kids. Did 2 with open bottoms- both top and bottom were glued up picture frame style- used what I had and least amount of wood. I liked the looks but had too wide of boards to cut on miter saw, I thought way too much work.
Had a person want a other one and did this one with solid panels. Still looks good but was told by some they like the other picture frame style better.
3rd person buying loves it as is. Also had me carve a message on bottom side of top for their dad. Turned out good and was simpler then the other style.
Up rights are darker stain then rest but hard to see in pictures and probably will go with all one color of stain from here out.
I was a little hesitant in putting any color on the bass but with just stain I did not think it did it justice.
So I bit the bullet and used some enamel paints- think they came out good.
what are peoples thoughts on the 2 differ styles= picture frame or solid panel?
thx for looking.

very nice. I have to agree, I like the picture frame style better as well. :)

Great paint job on the fish. Well done.
