U.S.S. Pennsylvania, SSBN-735

Post by hardidon »

Just finished this carving of the U.S.S Pennsylvania ballistic missile submarine patch. It is for a friend of mine that just retired from the Navy and told me that this was one of the operational units that he was most proud of.

The only image i had of the patch, was so pixelated when i imported it into V-Carve Desktop, that i ended up taking a month basically redrawing every line of the image, importing a rope graphic from the internet, the stars from the ClipArt in V-Carve, and the lettering finding a close match in the V-Carve fonts... This was the third attempt at carving the insignia in wood (and even this one has mistakes in it that i have attempted to gloss over). Definitely the most intricate / challenging project todate in my short CNC career.

That is really, really nice. You did a great job (and every project I've ever worked on has defects in my mind that I've glossed over...
