Beach Scene in Cherry

Post by BillK »

Finally got to cut these two models I created a while ago. The wood was from a thin cheery slab that I bought a few years ago. The scenes are from a beach in Maine that we go to. Created with Aspire, these are wall hangings. Thanks for looking.

Thanks Kayvon.

It takes some time to convert a picture to a carving,to get the angles and the noticeable details in focus and knowing what won't matter in the end. I guess that's the art part of it.

Very nice!! What are the overall dimensions?

One of these days I'll get into the design side.

Thanks! The carving with the ellipse is 7” x 20”. The other is a little smaller, 6 x 18.5. The two pieces of wood were one slab that had a split in the middle. So I just cracked it then smoothed off the splinters.

I like the way you used the bark inclusion or knot in the over all design. The carving is nice and because you recognize the buildings it means more to you. In the dead of winter you can imagine yourself at the beach. sitting on the deck with an adult beverage and soaking up the sun.

Thank you. I hung them on the wall and they look great.
