DIY 4th Axis videos

Post by Kayvon »

I made my own version of Bob's Super Simple 4th Axis and thought I'd share them in the videos section.

The first is my prototype test: https://youtu.be/2ZVmKiehGnU

The second shows a simple spiral design: https://youtu.be/MhsOeTr2kh4

Pictures of my build process are here: http://perryprojects.blogspot.com/2017/ ... -axis.html

Perry,
Really nice job on your 4th axis! I like your improvements on the design. I can't wait to see some of your projects.

I wanted to try milling a truly 3D object--one that would be difficult to impossible with simple, 2-sided machining. I decided on a dodecahedron, which you might think of as a 60-sided die or a sphere made of triangles.

This might be possible to do with 4-sided machining, but not with this level of detail. The proof of concept also shows I could do interesting, non-symmetrical pieces like a car.

Good production projects need to learn more.
