Controller Issue / Short

Post by wsteffan »

I just received my Shark 60th.
Physically set it up yesterday and today was cables/controller.

I plugged in X,Y,Z and then power to Router and Power to outlet.
I tested router to see it that worked. I never had power to router.
I connected USB, and turned on controller box, opened control panel and I see check power/USB over and over.
It comes and goes all the time. I was able to have it on long enough to set XYZ to center 0,0,0.
Then lights go out and check USB/Power again.

Any suggestions? Have any of you seen this problem before?
Does this sound like a short in the controller?
I sent the details to Next Wave already but it's MLK weekend might not hear back from them until Tuesday.

'If anybody has any suggestions, I'm open for any help you might have.

Thank you
Wayne

Make sure you have turned off any power saving features of the PC. Also turn off any screen savers. Some PCs will power down ports to save energy.

If the trouble persists try a different USB port. Try a different cable after that.

Well the one good thing is I am a PC Guy.
Guess I should have mentioned this in my post.

I used 3 different computers.
Different power cords to control box.
Different USB cables, and into different USB ports.

I have power issues even when just turning on the control box, lights flash on and off.
and I never get power from the outlet that plugs into the router.

Here is something u could try.
Your led badge may b shorting out.
Take the cover off the control box. Remove the white wire that goes to the badge.
Then try to power up.

I had an issue similar to yours and that fixed it 4 me.
I don't use the led badge at all. I leave it out of the circuit.

Regards the outlet for the router.
That is probably o.k. You don't get that powered up until you run the toolpath file
and it turns off automatically when the file is done so the router doesn't run forever after completing the job.

I tried removing the badge wires did not solve my problem. I spoke to Next Wave and they are sending me a new controller out today. They also provided a return UPS label for the defective one.

Guess I have to wait a few more days to play with my new toy.

Give me time to get software reg. and watch some videos on how to use this thing.
