Hot motor cords

Post by Esquared »

I just upgraded my shark pro to the new controller with a touch pad and the new motors. Having an issue with the shielded white section of the motor cords getting very hot, (up to 176 degrees with infrared reader). Next Wave Automation has replaced the new controller and two motors but these are doing the same thing under no load condition. I have uninstalled and re-installed the software. The only thing I can determine is the wire size in the white portion of the motor cord is AWG 28 and the motor wire looks to be 18 AWG which would cause the smaller wire to get hot if to much current is pulled by the motors. I have asked for the db9 pinout fort he wire connections so I can build a connector with 18 AWG wire, but have yet to receive it. I guess what I wanted to know is anyone else having this same issue and is there a solution besides building new cables?
Thanks
