Need some assistance
Hello
I have an HD 4 and using VCarve Pro.
I dont use the machine as much as i'd like but when i do i am having some issues
It appears that non of my carves are consistent.
When i bring it up in Vcarve it showes a perfect carve
However when i go to carve on wood. Mostly Pine nothing come out right.
I am using either a standard 90 or 60 degree Freud bit to do most of my stuff as they are usually signs that im trying to produce
The letters never come out correct and if there are any say simple symbols they also come out distorted.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I can send pictures if need be
My email is rsa293@gmail.com

Re: Need some assistance
Josh, can you post those pictures to the forum? It would help a lot.
"Not coming out right" doesn't give us a lot to go on. What's wrong with them? If you run the same sequence again, do they come out deformed in an identical manner? Or is the deformation different each time?

I will post pictures later today

Hmmmm....Alpha Epsilon Pi....
I sorta almost pledged there as a freshman....well, that's what they thought anyway.
I just wanted a room that wasn't in a dorm. USC (Los Angeles, not South Carolina).
Are you using a dist hood during the cuts?
The smaller starts in the upper left corner look like an non-flat spoilboard, or a non-flat piece of stock.
I'm told a planer is a good friend to have.
The other stuff, it's hard to discern what's the problem exactly.

Re: Need some assistance
The other item the star field is not consistant. Some of the stars come out perfectly others totally off
I'll remove the spoilboard and try it again.
I was using a dust collection system that you guys sell but bristles seem to get caught up on the hold down clamps so i took it off and the same problem seems to exist.
I just noticed there is a bit of play where the rod goes into the motor

Re: Need some assistance
First thing to clear up: We don't work for anything related to CNC. We're all fellow hobbyists, just like you.
If you run the same sequence again, do they come out deformed in an identical manner? Or is the deformation different each time?
I'm wondering if there's too much play in the system. Are all the bolts tight? Is there any movement in the gantry if you try to shake it with your hand (while the machine isn't running)?
Re: Need some assistance
Yes when I run the program I get the same issues each time.
Going to take the spoil board off this weekend and run it without
There is no play in the front to back but some side to side.
Sorry for the misunderstanding.
The machine is perfectly level all the way around and no movement on the table it sits on when the machine runs.
Again thank you for your help.

Re: Need some assistance
Check your GCode for a G64 setting. If it's not in there, up near the G20/G21 inches/mm line, add
G64 P0.001
save the file and re-run it and see if that's any different.
G64 sets the "best speed path", or how close the bit is required to come to the endpoints of the GCode blocks.
On some machines, especially the older post-processors, the used fully 0.1" as that value! Which meant the
bit only really "went there" if it wanted to. And what sux is that the simulator in Vectric doesn't show that;
it happens fully inside the controller box.
See if that helps....
