Y axis does not move

Post by BurnsasaurusRex »

Hello to all and thank you for welcoming me to your group. Long story short, my shop bought a Shark HD4 last year and no one touched it so I took it out and starting setting it up and the second I did that my bosses told me to become the expert in CNC. I got everything connected, but when I go to manually move the y-axis it doesn't move. Z and X move fine. I have tried restarting and I was sure that the controller was powered down before disconnecting the axis cables. Full disclosure, Wednesday was the first time I'd ever touched a CNC machine so I am as green as they get. Please help, or point me in the right direction. Thank you all:)

Look under the bed. There is a coupling connecting the motor with the ball screw, make sure the setscrew is tight, sometimes they loosen up.
