cutting a rounded groove into a board
I havent touched my machine in a while and now I am a little lost in remembering how to do things. I am using V-Carve 9.0. I need to cut a grrove around the edge of a cutting board, I think they call it a juice groove. it should be shallow, maybe 1/4" deep and 3/4" wide but should be an Arc shape, m...

Re: Newbie looking at an HD4
I am also a newbie and have had my HD4 for 3 weeks now. One correction to the above, it also comes with the full V-Carve Pro, not a desktop version. The Spindle is worth the money, it is quiet and works well so far. Yes, 1/4" Collet is limiting but I have all the bits I need in 1/4" shank. I also ha...

Re: Virtual zero Fault with Tiling
So I did another test, and here is the issue. No matter if you have the Bottom left OR the Material Center marked as the Origin, the router will always move down and left for the first point of Virtual zero by the distance that you enter for Virtual zero scan length. I tried entering just a small 3"...

Re: Virtual zero Fault with Tiling
Hi
Yes, recalculated and checked that bottom left is origin.
As before, I have the pendant and not the Shark Control center.
This must be a bug on there.

Not sure I am getting this. I have the Pendant and not the Control center.
Are you saying not to use the Zero XYZ button?
Also it sounds like you are using the touch probe and not the touch plate? Which is better to use?

Virtual zero Fault with Tiling
I had an issue with Virtual Zero tonight while trying to cut a Tiling toolpath for a 36" sign. Previously I have done the following steps with smaller jobs. I used the Center as XY Datum for all previous jobs. Move router to center of material, perform Touch Plate calibration. Set XYZ to 0.0.0 In vi...

Re: Long Sign How-to
Thank you.
I was successful in cutting a 36 inch sign with Y passthrough. Except I have an issue with Virtual-zero but I will start a new thread for that.
Thanks
Liam

Re: Watercooled Spindle setup.
Well, I hate not knowing and as it may help others in the future, I picked up a Tachometer at Harbor Freight and did some measuring. To my surprise the RPM display on the VFD is right in line with the digital meter, give or take 20 RPM or so. I tracked several measurements between 0 and 24000 RPM an...

Re: Watercooled Spindle setup.
Hi Thom Yes, the PD-144 is just a register name that contains the value for max motor RPM. You are probably correct that the display is all that has changed from 11500 to 24000 RPM although it does seem to be spinning a little faster. The frequency settings have always been 400 HZ max. The model num...
