Re: Problems with 3D Carving
As a follow up... Went and tried another 3d project and while going along the roughing pass, lost the Z again and tried drilling down through the floor. Needless to say, i was upset. I had checked the version of firmware on my controller and Pendant, but could not find on the NWA web site what the v...

Re: Problems with 3D Carving
Yes it has happened to me on two different projects... and it happened/happens at the same place on the PROJECT... not the same place on the table. Just went out to make sure but the holes in my spoil board are in different spots. A local friend and CNC'er suggested that it has happened to him and h...

Re: Problems with 3D Carving
Hey Joe, thanks for taking a look at this. Problem that kicks my logic, is that it is not random/intermittent... Things happen in the same place, repeatedly. First instance was on a project that i had carved 4 times, now the next three times i have tried it, nose dive in the same exact place (same h...

Re: Problems with 3D Carving
Thanks for looking at this Tony... You have come up with the same answer as everyone else. And no, i do not have a dustcollector attached to the CNC (just use my shop vac when the chips get too deep). And for the roughing i am not using the ball nose but rather straight end mill, and i am runn...

Re: Problems with 3D Carving
Not sure which files you want to look at, so am attaching the .crv and .tap files for this. This last time that the machine took the nose dive, i was recording a video of it, and then took a picture of the pendant showing the last line to be 805. 24Left 3D Roughing 1.tap LeftPanel_24.crv Thanks for ...

Problems with 3D Carving
Have started (or tried starting) to cut some 3D images with some limited success. Started off with a Coat of Arms for a friend where i imported a 3D image in from the ones Vectric provided with Desktop, and made two of them for him, but last two i have tried, during the roughing pass, the machine tr...

Granddaughter Present
Poplar wood - can't say i am a fan. Next ones will be in Maple. 1st time to use the technique to burn some highlights with a torch. And the first time to use shellac (Amber Shellac) as a finish. Lot of firsts and learnings, but am liking the way it has turned out.

Re: U.S. Coast Guard plaque for Christmas present
Bill, First off, thank you. And yes i did do all of the text in the same toolpath. Same toolpath, same font, only difference is that the top letters are slightly larger (made the bottom lettering smaller to fit). Thanks for the hint/tip. Have had my Shark for exactly one year now, and still bucking ...
