Re: Convert a STL File to Machine Using my 4th Axis

That would take about 5 minutes with a sharp knife to whittle from a hardwood dowel. Could even shape all but the hook on a belt sander.

Re: Convert a STL File to Machine Using my 4th Axis

Seems like overkill using a CNC for this. Seems like it would not take long to get some dowels and carve them by hand. Is there something unique about the crochet hooks that makes you want to use the CNC? I would think that regardless, you have may have to hand carve the hook onto it. I would be int...

Re: Tabs on a radius.

I had a problem while doing a v-carve where it was making weird deviations around the perimeter. I found a reference somewhere in the forum where someone recommended adding a "G64 P0.01" to the post processor header section for VCarve software. It definitely improved the cut, though is still not per...

Re: Surge Protection

Yeah. Not many responses out here. So far this forum has not been very helpful but I thought I would at least try on a few where I have at least a little knowledge.

Re: Surge Protection

I would consider using an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) to smooth out any fluctuations.

Re: Spindle startup delay?

For some reason they added a 6 second startup delay into the post processor. Just edit the post processor or the gcode and and change the G04 to a lower number. Here are instructions for modifying the post processor.

Re: Z axis doubling the set depth

I haven't seen this on my HD3 and I don't have the LCD pendant but when you jog the Z axis, are you seeing the same problem? Move the bit to make contact with the surface then move it up 0.125" and measure the height to see if it moved 0.25". Did this start happening when you added the pendant?

V-carved tool path truncated

I am having a problem cutting V-Carved pockets for an inlay where the are odd deviations in the edges of the pocket so I decided to cut several 8-sided stars (compass rose) to see if it just happening in certain directions or if there was any other pattern I could spot. The only problem I found is t...

Re: Vcarve tool path removing too much from inside corners

Hi Tom,
I am having a similar problem and was wondering if you resolved the problem and if so, what you did to fix it. I am trying to do a wood inlay and am getting very strange deviations in the perimeter of the V-carved pockets, similar to what you show in your pictures.
