Re: Projecting toolpath onto 3D model

Then I'm having a mental moment as well...
In Aspire, it just lives in the box above "calculate"
I've just spent 20 minutes trying to project some text on to a coffee cup for you in V-Carve, and I can't find it either...
Good luck....

Re: Carving Concentric Circles

One quick thing to try, halve your feed rate and run a circle. The Shark Pro Plus really doesn't like going too fast in the Y, the router will easily rotate some around the X axis if the bit "drags" through the material. It took a bit to realise that I actually had to take my fingers off the Z screw...

Re: Vacuum Clamp

memories from many..many moons ago, of fuel proofing a tray in a model aeroplane. I think it involved mixing model aircraft dope with isopropyl alcohol and painting it on, I think it gave the ply something like a plastic coating. The smooth surfaces of the MDF shouldn't give you much grief if they a...

Re: Paua abalone shell inlay

Haven't heard that one Bob ? It's a myth / taking the piss thing that Aussies tell you guys when we're over there :) It basically alludes to Koalas launching themselves out of trees at your head and attacking you. Trust me, if we had something that weighed up to 20Kg, with enough muscle and claws to...

No mate, you're not alone..
I use my keyhole bit on the router table, never been game to try it on the Shark. Same as the profile cuts.

Re: Paua abalone shell inlay

Aah, sorry :) Not pulling your leg, like Drop Bears.. A wombat is about the size of 2 basket balls, and is solid muscle, as they dig their burrows. Basically a large rock with legs. Coming around a corner at night at 100KPH+, and you catch one in your headlights on the road and they freeze, if you c...

Re: Paua abalone shell inlay

A beautiful image of a sump killer !! Lovely work.
I've been sitting on a piece of quarter sawn Queen? ebony for a few years that I picked up at the Sydney Working With Wood show, waiting for the right project to use it in.

Re: Lubricating the Shark

And be very careful of the flooring after spraying !! My workshop floor is lino, and after spraying the silicon on the Shark, no matter how carefully from the aerosol can, the friction co-efficient in the surrounding area can drop alarmingly !!
