Re: Square trivets

Dash, Ok, I hate to admit it but I used this type of clamping on my old CarveWrite. To fool the machine so I didn't have to add the extra 7" on the wood (3.5" on each end). You can't see in the photo but my scrap board has 5/16" t-nuts inserted from the bottom. Spaced the same as the parallel clamps...

Re: First 3d carve

Karen,

It's cherry left over from a cabinet I made for my wife a couple years ago.
The bad lighting makes it look darker than it is. I just wanted to try a 3d carve.
Probably will be awhile before I do another one. Thanks for looking.

Re: First 3d carve

I have the Black Diamond Shark, and I'm having a lot of fun with it. So many ideas that I want to carve, I have been recreating many things I've made years ago. The Shark has replaced many of my woodworking tools (band saw, drill press, etc.). My wife gives away most of my carves as gifts. So I get ...

Re: Make your own tools- Dead blow Mallet

BillK,

Thanks, I understand. I'm just interested in the mallet it self.
I have a friend who sculptures and I would like to give it to him (personalized) as a gift.
I'm sure he would probably display it rather than use it.
But again, great design.

Re: Need advice

Chop, I have owed both the CarveWright and a Shark. My opinion is DO NOT BUY the Carve Wright, you will spend half of your time working on it to get it to carve. Now that I have my Shark I'm learning new things every day. I come home from work and head to the shop to unwind. I will grab a pierce of ...

Re: No paint signs

Tony,

Thanks,
I still paint, but I really like the look of the contrasting colors of the woods.
Plus, the lettering does come out crisp with less work.

Petrified Possum

Son found an old dead baby possum in a shed we were tearing down. He wanted to put it in a jar and keep it. Why I have no idea! So I built a small display for it. Cut out of a scrap piece of 2"x12" left over from making banks. Stained and painted then clear coat poly, cut acrylic. Used hot glue to a...

Re: Banks

Didn't mention the clear flap that I add to all the banks on the inside.
You can see it on the Swan but the pig has one also.
This covers the slot when you turn it upside down to try to shake money out.
Also, the bottoms have my signature and penny for the year built.
