Re: design and make

VCarve works fine for clipart. The latest version, 8.5, even includes an integrated clipart tab.

V Carve of Paradise Box

I made the Paradise Box out of maple as a Christmas gift for my mother. The top of the box measures about 9x12 after the profile cut. To get a piece that size, I glued two boards together beforehand. This video shows just the V carve step, sped up for your viewing pleasure. https://www.youtube.com/w...

Cribbage board

I posted pics of this cribbage board in the "show off" section: http://www.cncsharktalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=5251 I realized I hadn't posted the project files and this looks like the place to do it. If anyone makes their own version, please post some pictures here. Edit: If you make this yourself...

Re: CNC and clock building

The design can indeed be altered to be a mantel clock. Clayton has an example of that on his web site: http://www.lisaboyer.com/Claytonsite/forrestburnettharmonicoscillator.htm . Clayton's plans don't cover the mantel version, but it's certainly viable. I wouldn't expect ceiling fan turbulence to si...

Mahogany cribbage board

A good friend of mine approached me about making a cribbage board for his parents. It made for a fun project on the CNC machine--definitely the type of thing that shows off the machine's strengths while being very approachable for new hobbyists. 05 - Numbers.jpg 14 - Complete.jpg As usual, I've post...

Re: Control Panel 1.6 coordinates

Just to update, I never did figure out the cause of this. To play it safe, I now always move to 0,0,0 before loading the file, then I always use the mouse to click Run. I'm thinking some of the keyboard shortcuts were a little undertested.

Re: CNC Shark accuracy is off

If you don't have a good way to measure the bit (and if you're using a ruler, I'm guessing you don't), do you have another bit you could use instead? I'll echo monitoringpost: I have a quality Whiteside bit that's supposed to be 1/8", but is actually slightly smaller. It's perfect for everything I d...

Re: Colleges that have a CNC 4 Shark

Not in my area, I'm afraid. I'd recommend the first suggestion while you wait to see if anyone is close by to take you up on the second suggestion. This forum is also a good place for you and your instructor to ask questions if something he's learning doesn't make sense.

Re: Colleges that have a CNC 4 Shark

Hi, Jim. I don't have a list of colleges that use VCarve software, but there are still a couple good resources for you and your instructor. First, there are several online tutorials for learning VCarve. Vectric has an entire training site: http://support.vectric.com/training-material There are also ...
