Re: Shark HD4 EXtended-setting up water cooled spindle

As for mounting the spindle, I would probably allow about 1" from the bottom of the spindle to the bottom of the spindle mount. That will allow you enough space to mount a dust boot to the bottom of the spindle. The shaft with the spindle nut will be below that. When you slide the spindle in the mou...

Re: HD4 lost power.......reset button?? Disregard, found th

There should be a extra fuse inside the fuse holder! Did you try replacing it and start up the machine again?
It's not a expensive fuse. I believe you can get them at almost any hardware store.

Re: Tiling

Go to the Vectric web site and type tiling! There are real good videos on that subject.

Re: Growing pains or customer no service?

Did you call NextWave directly?
Every time I need tech support, I just called them. If I had to leave a message, they would return my call that same day.

Re: Shark HD4 Going haywire during machining

I had similar problems until I found out my router bit was slipping.
It doesn't have to slip much, but the result is a ruined piece.
First thing to do is make sure your bit is nice and tight.
Just a suggestion for a place to start looking!

Re: Bosch 1617 collets

Kayvon: Those collets look to be a better choice than using the adapter.
I may try one myself.

Re: Bosch 1617 collets

I use a 1/4 to 1/8" adapter to use smaller bits. I don't know if anyone has a 1/8" collet for a Bosch router. You can get them at Rockler and the work just fine. Precision Bits does sell a replacement setup for Bosch and Porter Cable routers. I haven't tried them, but others on this site have an lik...

Re: ballnose bits

Amana bits are probably as good as it gets, but I use Whiteside as well. I have used some Yonico and MLCS bits in the past, but for this type of work, they just don't seem to last long, and cost almost the same as Whiteside. If you want to do some sort of 2.5 D cutting, I would start with a 1/4" bal...

Re: CNC Shark for Sale

That is an earlier model! The Piranha model is what I think replaced it. The other older machines would have been a a H3 which took a Bosch 1617 router or the newer HD4 which also takes the same router. There is also a Shark II that has a cutting area of 13 x 25 that sells new for $2900. It also sup...

Re: CNC Shark for Sale

It would be a good idea to list the model and possibly a few picks of what your selling.
