How old is the bit you are using?
Possibly try a new cutter to see if it does the same thing.

Re: making signs
If your spoil board isn't flat that will cause big problems. Make sure that is flat and even from all the corners. The piece you are using for the sign should also be flat. Depending on the actual size of your sign, you could run it thru a planer first or surface it in the cnc machine then cut your ...

Re: making signs
You could try using a 60* bit or just set your flat depth to about .13 or .14 with the 90*. That should do the trick.

Re: Help w/ Speeds & Feeds - Hare & Tortoise
I would think the feed rate of 131 is a bit fast. I would probably try about 80-100 for starters and possibly less that 1/8 depth.

If you are using Vcarve, the tool database already has a /2 ballnose in it.

Re: Rugged router
I have a water cooled spindle and it's very quiet. The air cooled are also quiet, but not as much as the water cooled. Price is almost the same, but with air cooled, you don't have to mess with any plumbing. The Bosch router is about 89mm and most spindles are 80mm, so you would probably want a new ...

Re: Rugged router
You can usually get a 2.2kw spindle, VFD to run the spindle and everything else you would need for less than the cost of the Nextwave setup. I don't know anyone bothering to change the bearing on a spindle, they just buy a new spindle. Like Rando said before, a spindle has more power than a router, ...

Re: dust collections problem
In addition to what Rando suggested, you could also have a 4" hose and dust boot.
You will still need blast gate as well.

Re: Bosch 1617 router
It's what I used when I had my HD4. I no longer have that machine, but I still use that router in another machine. Works great, and I haven't replaced the bearings or brushes in over a year's worth of use. The Bosch is a very good router, but Rando is giving good advise in using a spindle. With a sp...

Re: HD4 pendant zero issues
I am almost positive you only zero out the X and Y and then set your Z separately. The Z zero is a different setting!
