Not sure if I understand your questions completely, but I think you are asking if you can "stretch" a font from its original width??? To do this, enter and place your text as you normally would. Once you have it placed, click once on it to select the lettering vectors, then a second time to edit the vectors. Boxes appear at the corners and middle for editing the text and also outside the corners for rotating the text. You can hover the mouse over the marks middle ways up the height of the lettering until you get the left/right stretch icon. Left click it (holding down) and drag it to stretch as needed. Holding the shift key at the same time will stretch symmetrically around the center of the lettering. You can also explore the "draw text within a vector box" button that is next to the "draw text" button for putting text within a box, but I'm not sure this gives you quite as much control of the size. Hope I understood what you were asking.
