Anyone know anything about bmp2cnc?

Post by scribblesticks »

Found a program online called bmp2cnc that converts jpg's and bmp's to output in 3d on cnc systems. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this application or its companion app. SimplyCAM. They are produced by a company called MR-Soft Nc Tools.
Thanks,
Tom

It makes a sort of "point cloud" based upon the grayscale dark/light scale of each pixel. I've used it once to make a lithopane in white Corian. It's fun to play with, but if your serious about lithopanes, I would suggest the relatively inexpensive photo vcarve from Vectric. You can also use bmp2cnc for importing high contrast graphics into a cad/cam program. This way, you can side view the "point cloud" and lasso the points at the level you want to use as a rough index to base a cad drawing upon.
