BobCAD CAM

Post by aldepoalo »

Hello Everyone! I am looking for feedback from BobCAD users. Does anyone use the BobCAD software to program their machine. If so please share you experience.

Thanks

Al

We at Next Wave use Bob Cad. We use to ship the machine with BobCad several years ago in fact. We still use the version 21 but have not liked 22 or version 23. I thought the interface was harder to use and did not like the cam section. The Cam needed a lot more information for it to machine a part. The big thing they were doing was going from a generally 2d look and trying hard to make it a 3d system. So alot of additional overhead was needed to set up the machining part. Now adays if we are designed a part we will do it in bobcad 21 and they export it via dxf to vcarve and then do the Cam section there.
I have not looked at any newer software then 23 so they might have made things easier.

Hello Tim,

Check out these videos and let me know what you think of the V24.

SLDPRT: Open Pocket Video

Contour Ramping : 2D ramping profiles

BobART : Photo Emboss

Just so you know Tim, I work at BobCAD as the OEM DEALER ACCOUNT MANAGER. We have spoken on the phone over the years.
I agree that the V21 is a simple system to setup and work with. 24 has more bells and whistles which may or not may not be a good thing.

At this time I am looking for user feed back, what people like what they don't.
