2 cnc machines

I have a SHARK and a digital woodcarver runnling vcarve pro, loaded the post processors for both and the shark cannot find the tap file....would have computers syned together have anything to do with it?

VCarve Desktop, and Pro can Import single 3D model files (STL, OBJ, 3DM, SKP etc.) for each job. https://www.vectric.com/products
So, your stl file should work fine.

To answer your specific question, the GCode files that the controller accepts use the .tap file extension.
Other CNCs use .nc, .gcode, even .txt. But inside, they typically all have the same RS-274 standard format inside.

Hope that helps....

And yes, Vectric and other tools will take the STL (STereo Lithography) models. Note that as you get more into it,
you'll find that STL files aren't **optimal** for making exact parts. Mostly because they don't have true "edges" in
the file, but instead model the surfaces by interlinked triangles. Don't worry....you'll find out about all that as you
work into it.
