Grooves in carving

Post by garylytton »

I recently purchased the CNC Shark and also purchased the Cut 3D software. I have successfully used the machine several times but when I carved a free download (bull with an oval cutout) the bit left significant grooves. Could you tell me if this is normal, or do I have a setting wrong. The roughing bit worked great, but I experience the issue when I used either a 1/4" or 1/8" round nose bit for the finishing cut.

Thanks for any assistance you can offer.

When your in the finishing toolpath edit the parameters for stepover to 9 or 10 % and you will get a better finish.

I also use a 1/16 tapered ball nose bit which will give you more detail as well....
