It's an old thread, but a good one!

Here's a link to a ravioli rolling pin I made for my wife using the 4th axis. Lots of pictures.

I'm very pleased with how it turned out. Regretfully, I haven't used the 4th axis since then. The Ravioli Pin was the perfect project for it, though.

Thanks for the link to your Raviroller!
I'm thinking of dusting off my fourth axis and putting it back to work.

What are you making next, Bob?

Related to another topic I started, haven't you built a couple wooden clocks? I'm trying to figure out which designers to consider for my next one.

I've built a couple clocks from Brian Law. I used Imperial measurements instead of Metric for all axles. Otherwise, his vectors worked well. I have not used wooden clocks for telling time. I just like them as kinetic art.

One more,

I'm going to give this a whirl on my Shapeoko Pro.
Thanks for giving us the models for the rack and pinion + gear models.
I love a project that doesn't require maths!

jbc,
Have fun with this adventure!
I value math, but I try to avoid it whenever possible.
Please post your progress.

Late to the show here.

In a post from a while ago, it said that the design components were posted to Thingiverse.
Spent quite a bit of time, and permutations looking there without any luck.

Are the component parts in STL format somewhere? I do not have any Vectric products, I use Carveco Maker+. I cannot open or use the .crv files, and spent some time trying to find a converter.

Any help from the Community is much appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
JohnS

John,
Since I designed and built this thing, I can answer some questions.
I never posted these files on Thingiverse. That could explain why you couldn't find them.
These are all vector files, not 3D.
Can you open EPS, DXF, AI, SVG, or PDF formats with your software?
I can export the files in any of these.
Let me know the part you want to make first, the format, and I'll post a test here for you to try.
This looks like fun,
Bob

Bob,
Thanks for responding.
I used to be in printing, and have the software to open, and modify those types of files. When I got into CNC, it made it much easier

Just a chance search on the 'net got me here, dumb luck I guess.
DXF imports the best, other than STL. Carveco is the old Autodesk Artcam, so it shouldn't be a surprise.
MM or inch either way works.

OK John, Let's try this one:
4th axis mounting arms.dxf
(31.42 KiB) Downloaded 138 times
I can't export toolpaths, just the vectors.
