Cut into Aluminum Bed!

So, two questions:
1. Using 1/4" solid carbide end mill. Is the bit salvageable if I send it for sharpening? About 1/4" of the end is full of aluminum now. Paid about $25 for it, sharpening from our source is normally about $8.
2. Looks like I can loosen the bed hold-down bolts and flip segments over - it that true?

Sure thought I had this job set up right, but a lot of toolpaths, one that came in from a thicker piece of wood, and obviously I didn't review cut depth on all paths! Duh!

Thanks -

I'm not sure about the bit and you don't have to flip the bed over just use a spoil board. They can prevent a lot of damage
