z axis kept going down

Post by TAW »

Been way from shark a long time-(moved and nvr got it setup to run.)
Running couple signs and when setting z after bit change and tapping computer button to lower close before check/setting Z with paper the z kept going down and 3 different times in 2 days. Not sure if dust in laptop or software?? anyone else have this happen? I did not break any bits(KOW) but the last time it pushed the router up from its clamps. Did not notice till I went to change bits. I then used the STEP setting so as not to have happen again to get finished. feeling lucky.

I've experienced that with all axes at different times. It seems to be a software issue. Pushing the button again, even in the direction it's already headed, gets it to stop.

yes, very weird. I've seen it too. In one way reproducible:

Jog to one end of your machine...you'll want to have plenty of room.

select slow continuous jog speed

Now hold down the numeric keypad button for jogging

Once it starts moving, click the Load GCode button.

Now try and stop it ...... :D You can push that button all you want....

Seems like it's somehow related to Windows "having focus" for some action that means the control panel's listener task on the Windows notification loop never gets those subsequent button-up events. Freaks me out every time I multi-task

That's some crazy sh!t right there. Does it happen for you too?

If you lose focus while holding down a jog button, the main window will never get the "released button" signal when you let go. Best not to load g-code while jogging. :)

Had that happen once, turned out to be a dodgy mouse.

Yeah, the other day the cord to the keypad finally gave up (letting all the electrons spill out onto the floor :ugeek: )
Luckily it didn't go into runaway jog mode on me. Ornery beasts they be!

yeah they're little, but they'll clog the drain right up if you git too many down there!
