Defective Y-axis coupling

Post by darrenrb »

Hi all,

I have had the Shark 510 model for about 1 year now and since purchasing it there has been at least 6 occasions where the coupling between the y axis and motor will become loose during operation. It destroys whatever piece it is working which is pretty frustrating. The design for this coupling seems defective or just not well thought out to me because the mechanism for turning the axis relies on a single set screw held by pressure on a flat surface of the motor shaft. very basic amounts of use cause the set screw to wiggle loose, regardless of the amount of loctite or other stronger adhesives applied. I try to contact Nextwave support and the best they have done is sent a new coupling. This obviously doesn't solve the issue though since it is the design itself leading to this. Has anyone else here had similar issues with the y-axis coupling becoming loose repeatedly? have you found any solutions for it? Thanks!
