Help with Z steps per unit

Post by glowchrome »

Im helping my grandfather fix an issue with his machine not cutting to the correct z measurments.

From the information that ive found i think the steps per unit is off and needs to be calibrated but i cant figure out what software i need to do so.

The machine is a CNC shark HD520 using the next wave LCD. Ive tried using the cnc shark control panel 2.1 and USG and i cant get the machine to connect to either. Im sorry if this is an easy fix but i just cant find a solution. Ive read through the user manual and any youtube video on the subject. Hopfully one of yall know something i dont.

any help is apprieciated, thanks!

My first question is: Are you using the correct post processor? There are a lot listed for Sharks. Which one are you using?
Also it this the first time using this machine? Has it been used before with good results?
Have you contacted Next Wave CNC yet? https://nextwaveautomation.zendesk.com/hc/en-us
