Bitmap-based fonts won't work, but those are pretty rare anymore. Every font I've tried has worked. They need to be vector-based, of course. Most fonts are, which allows them to be resized by different programs, including VCarve/Aspire.

Be advised that there are some fonts that have the smallest of small loops within the font that could really mess up your work if not trimmed off.

VCarve will see these loops and try to negotiate them.

So, if at first the picture of your project is all over the place, check for those hidden or small loops that are usually when the vector changes direction.

I have now downloaded several new fonts and it works excellent! Thanks for all this info
