Anyone know what the load current is for the spindle and machine. I would like to size a UPS to allow me to keep my “place” in the carving when I get a power loss during cutting. I want it powered long enough to be able to pause the program and power down the spindle and just keep the controller settings so I can restart when the power is restored.

We seem to get our share of momentary blips here in Florida and the rainy season is coming......

Can’t find my ammeter :oops:

If I am not mistaken, the NWA spindle is only 110V, so you can look on Amazon for a power supply. I don't think they are very cheap, but probably wort it if your electrical service has glitches. I would make sure it's over sized to be on the safe side.

Running a Pocket toolpath with .125 End Mill on Foam - 100IPM
Everything running - 120v:
Shark HD4
H2O Spindle
H2O Pump
Led light - 12v 1Amp Transformer

The highest Wattage seen was 167 Watts

Thinking that if cutting more than foam it might be higher.

Edit - 12k RPM
When I increased RPM to 17k it jumped to 172 Watts
Roughly 1.5 Amps

Seems to me, another question that should be addressed is how long are your outages. A UPS should be enough to last most outages or provide enough time to properly shut down. Then there is the matter of other needs while the CNC is running. Do you use dust collection or lights and are they necessary should power go out?

I have a 1500 APC UPS that will provide backup power for about 5 minutes for my shark but most of my projects take longer than 5 minutes to cut. I live in a area where outages tend to last hours before the power company gets around to fixing.

Just some more ideas to ponder.
