Etching Acrylic

Post by robthowells »

Hoping someone can assist.
I have a shark hd and I am etching some acrylic.
Getting a strange outline on my letters See the pics
I am using a .125 60 degree vbit the quick engrave tool path.
Not sure why the outline of the letters is not straight lines?
Vectors are super clean with minimal nodes.
Preview does not show the curved lines.
Thanks in advance.

The inside quick engrave is perfectly straight.

The cutout... at least, I think it's a cutout... it's hard to photograph clear acrylic... the cutout you're pointing to doesn't get all the way in the corner because your bit will not fit any further into the crevice without cutting through the lines. Take a look at the bit you're using and thing about how you would take off more material at this point. You can't! The bit is too big to fit further into the corners.

You can preview these with VCarve's preview tab, so you'll know how it'll look before cutting it.
