HD5 Maintenance

Post by Dusty72 »

The grease fittings on the X Y Axis are more than difficult to reach and even more difficult to keep the excess grease wiped off the area around the fittings. Has anyone tried to add extensions to the grease fittings to bring them out from behind the spindle carriage? What methods have you used to keep the excess grease cleaned off the fittings after greasing. Using the needle type grease applicator always leaves some extra grease which ozzes out when you pull the applicator away from the fitting.

Extensions behind the fittings is a great idea. Maybe a 45 degree fitting behind the z axis fittings.
I suggest you ask the guys in support and then post it for the rest of us.

the fittings are called flush-style. It takes a special tip for the grease gun. I believe they are 6mm fittings.
