Laser fading out

I have a 7w laser and it will start to burn but stops after a few seconds. The light will stay on like it is burning but the power to burn is not there. It continues through the job like it is burning but nothing is happening. Help! It will do this with both my 2w and 7w lasers. Makes me wonder if something is screwy with the control. I have sent 2 back because I thought maybe they were faulty and still the problem continues.

Have you tried cleaning the little lens on the laser between jobs? Mine kept getting weaker and weaker and I cleaned the lens and now it works like a charm. I use a cotton swab and some acetate.
