Praying Hands carving

Post by Bob »

I tried this as an experiment with cropping a 3D model while not knowing what I'm doing. I wanted to make it look like a carving my dad made 56 years ago. These will make good gifts for the relatives.

Well, if that is something that you don't know what you're doing then I can't wait to see your good stuff. You have good taste when slecting the wood. You got the grain to match the picture. That takes talent.

Thanks,
I used the SWAG method for that.

Thanks

Buck,
I'm sorry, but I can't send you a copy. The license agreement doesn't allow it.
But the good news it that you can order a copy from Vectric
http://www.vectorart3d.com/store/index. ... ious/?&All
it's number 50069. I bought the .stl version for cut 3D. Price: $25.00.

These do make excellent gifts, I have made 10 so far.

Hi Bob,

Nice Job. I have just started using Cut3D. I have the Praying Hand Model and have cut 14-A and 14-b.
What am I missing. Looking at your project, it looks like the material outside of the model is below or on a plane at the same level as the base of the hands. I would like to do that also. To do that I would have to pocket cut the material outside the model. If you can do this with Cut3D I have missed something. I think I could do it if I could import the model into VCarve Pro Plus.

I hope this makes sense. Can anyone help me or steer me in the right direction.

Hi Bob, (it feels like I'm talking to myself)
There are three versions of each model. I purchased Style A, the "regular" version in stl format for use with Cut 3D.
I'm not sure what you mean by 14-A and 14-B.
By getting the "regular" model I did not need to make any extra pocket cut when I used Cut 3D. If you ordered the wrong version of this model, let Vectric know. They might be persuaded to send you a different version at no extra charge. I'm not sure though, it may only apply to the format (RLF,STL,or V3M).
Would you post a picture of what you have done? It would help to clarify your question for me.
