Red Cedar Cardinal

Here I go posting again here. I will continue to post until I have every post on the first page and Joe bans me. Lol!

I found a red cedar tree that fell in my back woods. The red color reminded me of the male cardinal. So off to aspire I went after I cut a few logs from it. Really happy with how this model came out. Here is the finished product all from one log.

Thanks Bill. I only used 2 bits. 1/4” up cut for 3D rough and final profile. 1/16” taper ball nose for final 3D cut.

Thanks! I started with a drawing that I found. Then I looked at a lot of photographs of cardinals. The tail feathers were actually one of the last tweaks that I did.

You too can do this for $1400 and several hundred hours of screen time. Lol, a model like this is probably something you can do after a few tutorials and get reasonable results.

Here’s a smaller version with a different background that I added in. Soaking it in Mineral oil.
