I have not posted much to the Shark Forums... hopefully that will change.
I actually have 5 CNC Machines... 4 of them are Next Wave machines.
I got my First Next Wave machine pre-COVID... back when the smaller machines were called "Piranha". Anyway, I had done some 3d graphics design and so I thought it might be cool to use that experience to cut some stuff out of wood.
Since then I have picked up 2 more Piranhas and I just recently got a Shark 110 (same size as the older Piranhas)
I try to make very detailed 3d designs... and mainly use a 1/64 ballnose bit. Some of these designs take upwards of 10 hours to cutout.
ISSUE: Hand held routers (the brushed) usually last me about 100 hours. -or- 10 carvings. Then after about 3 sets of brushed the bearings go out... did I mention the Routers are STUPID LOUD!!!
So about 6 weeks into my first CNC Machines life I started looking at swapping to a spindle. I quickly found one that looked reasonable on Amazon and found some good documentation & videos on youtube for it... and pulled the trigger.
Once I used the spindle for the first time, I swore I would never use a hand router again with any cnc!
**my original air cooled spindle is still going strong and has about 6,000 hours on it!
Which brings me to... THE SHARK 110!
I just purchased a new Shark 110 and it seems the mounting plate for the spindle has been changed a lot! The steel plate that the router/spindle mounts too is now not very friendly to smaller spindles. So I decided to modify it... **sorry, I void warranties all the time :/
So I took the mounting bracket off, cut the bottom plate off it and drilled holes for a spindle to mount!

Re: MOD: Shark 110 - Spindle
Interesting... some of the pictures are "previewed" as rotated... but when you click them they are correct.
Anyway... just wanted to show others that you can add a spindle fairly easy...
Slapped some examples of the stuff I do just to give you an idea...

Re: MOD: Shark 110 - Spindle
I liked your modification thanks for the posts!! Does the wiring take anything special? I am getting my first CNC a SD120 and I like the idea of a spindle. Did the outer bracket come with the spindle? Thanks again!
