Installing and Changing Bits on Spindle

I got the water cooled spindle with the Shark HD4 when that promotion was running at Rockler.
I am finally getting to setting up the spindle.
I found a video for a different machine that shows installing the bit.
It shows that the spring collet should snap into the tightening nut and then the nut with collet screws onto the spindle shaft.
The nut is tightened with a wrench on the spindle and a wrench on the tightening nut after the bit is installed into the collet.
My 1/4" collet does not snap into the tightening nut and no wrenches came with the spindle.
If you have a newer water cooled spindle, how do you install or change the bits?
Thanks for any help you can give me.

First you are right there are no wrenches supplied. You will need to get or purchase a 17mm open/box end wrench for the collet and a 13mm open/box end wrench for the flats of the spindle shaft.

Next in the photo you have the spring collet shown backwards therefore it will not snap into the collet as shown. Turn the spring collet around and it should snap into the tightening nut.

Hope this Helps! :)

I also bought an extra collet nut so I can just leave the collet in and swap out the whole thing when changing sizes. Makes if faster and easier.

I installed a mussel chuck and love it. Lot easyer to change bits.
