Where's the best place (height) to clamp on the 3hp spindle?

Post by mattmodstarr »

Hello to all:

I'm setting up my Shark HD520. How high should I clamp-on the 3HP water-cooled spindle? Should I center it top-to-bottom in the bracket?

I just upgraded to 3hp spindle & have dust brush on my machine. If I set up to low the bit is bellow the brush. I think as along as it secure the height should not matter. You want as much z travel as you may need.

I know it's been a while but the owner's manual states "Now insert the router into the mount. Position the collet about 3⁄4” above the table. This position ensures most router bits will reach the table. You can adjust this height as needed for long bits or thick projects".

I just ordered my HD520 (with free 3hp spindle). Can't wait to get it.
