Anyone know the longest SVGA Cable that can be used to go between the Next Wave CNC Controller & the Pendant?
I know 6 feet works...
I know 15 feet does not (no power)
Thanks

Re: Longest SVGA Cable for Pendant?
Well seems the dead forums strikes again...
With a lot of testing I have identified what the issue is with Some SVGA Cables not working between the pendant and controller.
It appears to be about SHARED GROUND...
The normal pinout for 15 pin DSub connector is PINs 6, 7 & 8 are grounds for the red, green & blue signals. Many SVGA cables combine these to a common ground... if you try to use one of these cables it will not work. Quick indicator is, when you power on the controller, all power is lost to the power supply (LED on power brick goes off)
Here is the details for the ground pins causing the issue:
Pin 6 RGND: This is the Red Signal Ground
Pin 7 GGND: Green Signal Ground
Pin 8 BGND: Blue Signal Ground

Re: Longest SVGA Cable for Pendant?
I would have just taken a standard VGA cable cut the ends off of it and spliced in the length I needed.
I had something similar to this with the cables that lead from the controller to the stepper motors. I have had 2 cables go open over the past 5 years. Generally at a 90 degree clamped bend. I have 2 extra stepper motors sitting there. So I ordered a serial cable and a pin break bout plug that I can change the pins if I need to.
I have searched for the plug that goes onto the stepper motor with the locking tab but so far have come up empty handed. Any one a source for those. I don't mind the 80.00 for the stepper and cable but would rather just have the choice of the cable.
