Water cooled spindle beginning to make noise

Post by Pmovermyer »

I've cut out about 6 projects
All of them being about 8 inch by 8 inch
Last night when I started my spindle it made a little noise but then stop.
Today when I started a new project the noise does not go away. Gets better for a few seconds and then comes right back almost sounds like vibration or dryness in a bearing any idea.

My first check would be the bearings, they are failing or in need of a lube job

I had the same problem last year. I happened to notice that the round nut on the top of the spindle was loose. I tightened it up and the noise went away. I check it often and it loosened up a bit a couple times but not recently. The spindle still seems to be working ok.
