Re: *** FORUM SHUTDOWN ***

I appreciate that Rockler left the forum up as long as they have. And especially that they allowed a couple of us to moderate the spam. Without that, the forum would have been completely unuseable.

*** FORUM SHUTDOWN ***

So, here's the low down... We've been reaching out to Rockler for weeks to see if they would provide some software updates or tools to help us tackle the spam problem. The original Rockler guys that set up the forum are no longer with the company. Yesterday, out of the blue, the moderators recived t...

Re: Freecad 1.0

I've used FreeCAD for 3d designs, but not for programming the Shark directly. It's a solid tool for doing 3d, but I prefer the Vectric tools for preparing g-code.

Re: Switch Z and X axis in VCarve

In your screenshot, take the option in order, top to bottom. First , choose the initial orientation. This will solve your problem entirely. Then choose the rotation about the Z axis for convenience in orientation in the 2d view. That first option will basically select which axis of your model is con...

Re: quick question for a new user regarding software...

Download and install the post processor files from the CNC machine manufacturer. There are far too many individual machines for everything to come bundled with VCarve itself, but the installation process isn't bad.

Re: CNC Touch Plate

Or, possibly, you need the registration from the large touchplate for the system to recognize it. It's the only thing that stops you from just making your own.

Re: CNC Touch Plate

I would expect Z accuracy to be the same between the two. The larger is "better" in that it lays over a larger area of your workpiece, so if you have some subtle variation on the piece it's more likely to find the high z point. If you're happy with the small, just get it. My Z plate is about 2" big ...

Re: Vcarve alternative

VCarve 8.5 is no longer available for purchase, but you can still download it from their site if you've purchased it. Just login and head to your owned products area to download it.

Until two days ago, I was using VCarve Pro 8.5 still. Works great.

Aspire / VCarve V12

Vectric has announced that version 12 is about to be released. They're also hinting at raising upgrade prices after this release, so if you've been on the fence about upgrade from your current version to a new one, this might be the time to do it. When you upgrade, you're guaranteed any new version ...
